At the seventh meeting of the 58th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, India strongly criticized Pakistan, labeling it a “failed state” that depends on international aid for survival.
Kshitij Tyagi, representing India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva, denounced Pakistan’s leaders for perpetuating falsehoods dictated by their military-terrorist nexus. He accused Pakistan of exploiting the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as its propaganda tool and wasting the UN Council’s time.
“It is unfortunate that this Council’s time continues to be wasted by a failed state that thrives on instability and survives on international handouts,” Tyagi stated. “Pakistan’s rhetoric reeks of hypocrisy, its actions of inhumanity, and its governance of incompetence. India remains committed to democracy, progress, and ensuring dignity for its people—values that Pakistan would do well to learn from.”
Reaffirming India’s stance on Jammu & Kashmir, Tyagi emphasized that the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will always be integral parts of India. He pointed to the region’s unprecedented political, social, and economic progress as proof of the government’s commitment to stability and development.
“J&K’s transformation is a testament to the people’s trust in the government’s efforts to restore normalcy in a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. A country that institutionalizes human rights abuses, persecutes minorities, and shelters UN-sanctioned terrorists is in no position to lecture anyone,” he asserted.
Tyagi further urged Pakistan to shift its focus from India to addressing its internal challenges, including governance failures and social unrest.
“Instead of its unhealthy obsession with India, Pakistan should prioritize providing justice and governance to its own people,” he concluded.
The remarks were in response to what India termed “baseless and malicious references” made by Pakistan at the UN. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, had earlier reaffirmed that Jammu & Kashmir is and will always remain an integral part of India while condemning Pakistan’s misinformation campaigns.
